Gabrielle earned her bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University magna cum laude with a B.A. in Multimedia Studies, a B.A. in English studies and a minor in Cherokee studies. Her lifelong goal is to foster Indigenous culture within digital media and to help Tribal nations express their traditional values using virtual outlets.
While completing her degree, Gabrielle was determined to find a way to mesh her love of gardening and sustainable agriculture with her communications degree, and so she studied and was certified in Indigenous permaculture. In her last year of college, she also interned at the Native American Agriculture Fund (NAAF) supporting the communications and program teams, as well as taught a summer course on Indigenous permaculture showcasing the NSU community garden to high school students within Tahlequah, OK.
Shortly after graduation, Gabrielle was then hired full time to work as the Associate Communication’s Officer at NAAF. For three years, Gabrielle visited NAAF grantees to create videos, infographics, reports, maps, and webinars to showcase the work that NAAF is currently doing in Indian country agriculture.
From broadcasting to reporting, Gabrielle is excited to share her expertise to support TAF in creating opportunities for Native students as they pursue their education within agriculture.
