National Agriculture in the Classroom

Increasing agricultural literacy through K-12 education

The National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization (NAITCO) and the USDA Agriculture in the Classroom Team support state programs by providing resources and networks that improve agricultural literacy among K–12 teachers and their students. The National Ag in the Classroom website offers free, standards-aligned lesson plans and professional development opportunities that help educators feel more confident teaching agriculture.

TAF is excited to partner with this program to expand professional learning opportunities for Native American teachers and for those who teach in areas with a high representation of Native students. To strengthen their experience and capacity to teach agriculture in meaningful ways.

So far, TAF has sponsored 9 teachers who are working with Native American students who come from a variety of different backgrounds to attend the National Ag in the Classroom (NAITC) conference. This conference provides numerous workshops and events to help foster its mission to create a space for teachers to improve and diversify their curriculum.

This scholarship is a unique opportunity to connect with fellow educators, expand your professional learning, and bring new agricultural education experiences back to your students and community. If you have been considering applying, we encourage you to take this next step and submit your application.

If you work with Native students and are interested in attending the NAITC Conference, we encourage you to apply.

Deadline: February 20, 2026.
